Navy Mixture tobacco, 1922
Players Navy Mixture tobacco fold-out counter card in three sections in the form of a picture frame or dressing mirror. The general background is printed to resemble wood grain. In an oval frame on the back section is a three-quarter length picture of a sailor. He is looking over his shoulder, out of the picture, and is smoking a pipe. His hat band reads " ENOWN". In the background is the silhouette of a warship. The text on the picture reads " PLAYERs // NAVY // MIXTURE". The centre section comprises a pyramid of 3 tobacco packs, the top of which pops out through an oval cut out in the front section, which resembles the support or foot of the mirror frame. Either side of the cut out is the text " MILD, // MEDIUM // AND // WHITE // LABEL". Below are three panels which read " MILD // STRENGTH // 1/- // PER OZ.", " WHITE // LABEL // 10 1/2D // PER OZ.", and " MEDIUM // STRENGTH // 1/- // PER OZ.". On the reverse is a label which reads " MARDONS // WINDOW NOVELTIES // EMBOSSED SHOWCARDS / &C, &C // VARNISHERS // GELATINERS & FRAME MAKERS // BRISTOL & LONDON."
