Navy Cut Medium cigarettes, 1924

Player's Navy Cut Medium cigarettes in three, tiered sections. The back section is the tallest and comprises packs of cigarettes and a box of cigarettes which has the Castle trade mark as well as the sailor in a life-buoy trade mark. The mid-section is similarly compose of packs of cigarettes and a box of cigarettes with the Castle trade mark as well as the sailor in a life-buoy trade mark. Above the box is a banner with the text "PLAYER'S". The front section, which is the lowest displays packs of cigarettes, One is open and two others have collecting cards protruding. The three sections are connected by a foot, the left and right sides of which have broken off and the back section has become detached. On the reverse is a hand-written note which reads "C117" and there is a printed note which reads "TO DISPLAY // HOLD BY TOP AND // PRESS DOWN ON TO // COUNTER // N.B. // if this display is // required to be closed // bring two struts into // centre first."

Navy Cut mixed brands, 1924=25

Player's Navy Cut tobacco fold-out counter card. The top of the card resembles a hoop which surrounds half-length figures of three navel officers. From their insignia they seem to be an lieutenant, a commander and an admiral. All three are smoking pipes. The base pulls forward and is decorated with packs of White Label, Gold Leaf, Medium and Tawny tobacco. In the bottom right hand corner is a staple. The text reads "PLAYER'S NAVY CUT // WHITE LABEL. GOLD LEAF. MEDIUM. TAWNY." On the reverse, attached to the hoop is a piece of card, suggesting that something hung from it. At the base is a support to allow the card to pull forward and stand upright. There is a rubber stamp which reads "JOHN PLAYER & SONS // STORES ADVERTISING // GARDEN ST."

Navy Mixture tobacco, 1922

Player's Navy Mixture tobacco fold-out counter card in three sections in the form of a picture frame or dressing mirror. The general background is printed to resemble wood grain. In an oval frame on the back section is a three-quarter length picture of a sailor. He is looking over his shoulder, out of the picture, and is smoking a pipe. His hat band reads "ENOWN". In the background is the silhouette of a warship. The text on the picture reads "PLAYER'S // NAVY // MIXTURE". The centre section comprises a pyramid of 3 tobacco packs, the top of which pops out through an oval cut out in the front section, which resembles the support or foot of the mirror frame. Either side of the cut out is the text "MILD, // MEDIUM // AND // WHITE // LABEL". Below are three panels which read "MILD // STRENGTH // 1/- // PER OZ.", "WHITE // LABEL // 10 1/2D // PER OZ.", and "MEDIUM // STRENGTH // 1/- // PER OZ.". On the reverse is a label which reads "MARDONS // WINDOW NOVELTIES // EMBOSSED SHOWCARDS / &C, &C // VARNISHERS // GELATINERS & FRAME MAKERS // BRISTOL & LONDON."
