Navy Cut cigarettes, 1927=28

Player's counter card in the shape of the full-length profile of a naval officer. His insignia suggest he is a commander. His left hand is in his pocket, his right hand is holding a cigarette to his mouth. The text at the base of the card reads "PLAYER'S // NAVY CUT". On the reverse is a support to allow the card to stand upright on which is a hand-written note which reads "Please return to // Sherwood Rise // ARCHIVES". There is a label which reads "MARDONS // WINDOW NOVELTIES // EMBOSSED SHOWCARDS / &C, &C // VARNISHERS // GELATINERS & FRAME MAKERS // BRISTOL & LONDON.".

'No Name' Tobacco with an unparalleled reputation, 1964

Player's No Name Tobacco counter-card featuring a black and white photographic image of a gentleman from the waist up, leaning against a table holding a pipe to his mouth. In the background there is a portrait of a gentleman hanging on the wall. The table the man is leaning on has on it a sculpture of what appears to be a horse and a vase of flowers. The man is wearing an evening jacket with a shirt and tie. He is looking towards the top left of the counter-card. The bottom section of the counter-card features an illustration of a tin of Player's No Name Tobacco on a burgundy background. Text reads: "'No Name'? // Tobacco with an unparalleled reputation". Hand-written on reverse: "APPROX. 1964 // 20452 // 9 1/2 X 15". There is also a stand on the reverse.

Navy Cut Medium cigarettes, 1924

Player's Navy Cut Medium cigarettes in three, tiered sections. The back section is the tallest and comprises packs of cigarettes and a box of cigarettes which has the Castle trade mark as well as the sailor in a life-buoy trade mark. The mid-section is similarly compose of packs of cigarettes and a box of cigarettes with the Castle trade mark as well as the sailor in a life-buoy trade mark. Above the box is a banner with the text "PLAYER'S". The front section, which is the lowest displays packs of cigarettes, One is open and two others have collecting cards protruding. The three sections are connected by a foot, the left and right sides of which have broken off and the back section has become detached. On the reverse is a hand-written note which reads "C117" and there is a printed note which reads "TO DISPLAY // HOLD BY TOP AND // PRESS DOWN ON TO // COUNTER // N.B. // if this display is // required to be closed // bring two struts into // centre first."
