Framed Print of Navy Cut Medium Cigarettes, 1935=36
Players Navy Cut Medium cigarettes rectangular counter card. The card is slightly padded over a metal frame, with a glossy finish. In the centre is a picture of three sailors around a table, two, who are seated in profile to the left and right of the picture, smoke pipes. The central, standing figure, facing the viewer is lighting a cigarette. The figure to the right is older than the others, wears a beard and glasses and is attempting to thread a needle. The scene is lit by a single candle in a lantern. The caption below the picture reads WATCH BELOW. To the right of the picture is the text Life on board a roving // tramp is hard and // rigorous, for, whether // facing the challenge of // a Cape Horn snorter // or languishing in the // Doldrums, the watch // below // brings welcome // relief. There, over a // friendly smoke, bodies // are rested, spirits // revived - and much- // needed repairs under-// taken. Overlapping the picture is a pack of Medium cigarettes. In the bottom left hand corner of the card is a miniature of a tramp steamer in full steam and in the bottom right hand corner is a miniature of a marker buoy or similar object. Between is the text PLAYERs // NAVY CUT CIGARETTES // PLAIN OR CORK TIPPED // 10 FOR 6D // 20 FOR 11 1/2D // 50 FOR 2/5 // FLAT TIN'. On the reverse is a support to allow the card to stand upright. Wood effect frame, card mounted, 10x8 fade resistant photo print. Overall outside dimensions 14x12 inches (36x31cm). Environmentally and ozone friendly, 40mm wide x 15mm Polycore® moulding has the look of real wood, is durable and light and easy to hang. Biodegradable and made with non-chlorinated gases (no toxic fumes) it is efficient; producing 100 tons of polystyrene can save 300 tons of trees! Prints are glazed with lightweight, shatterproof, optical clarity acrylic (providing the same general protection from the environment as glass). The back is stapled hardboard with a sawtooth hanger attached. Note: measurements provided are estimated outer dimensions, which include both the image and the frame. While we aim to keep sizing consistent, exact dimensions may vary slightly due to differences in print size or production requirements, which may result in a variation in the overall size (up to approximately 2.5cm (1"))
